Diamond Naturals is a good kibble that is easy to digest and my babies love it!  We add several things to our kibble - fish oil, bone broth, & probiotics for our older puppies & adults to make the nutrients more nutritiously robust.

Fish Oil is an all life stage supplement.  As a puppy, it supports the development of the brain & eyes so they reach their full potential, & it aids in maintaining healthy joints, skin & coat as your pup ages.  This particular brand is in our rotation & has a mild taste.  We add fish oil daily to all our pups & adults, no matter what their primary diet is.

We love this bed by Majestic Pets & the dogs love this bed too!  It comes in an array of colors, nice fabric options, it’s well made, & the cover completely zips off so you can wash the liner easily.  The company says not to wash the inside, but we sometimes have to.  We also always wash on hot bc hello, it needs to be disinfected.  However, we dry on Medium heat because when we were drying on hot it ruined the inside of the waterproof liner.  One thing to consider when buying a bed that has crevices & folds is that a lot of puppies like to play with their poop & you can’t see it hidden in those crevices.  On this bed, they can’t get away with hiding any treasures, everything is in plainsight.

This Snuggle Puppy has a plastic heartbeat that you can place in side & turn on that beats like a heart.  It helps new puppies adjust to life away from their mom & littermates & has been known to relieve anxiety when your pup is alone.  If you choose to buy this, you can have it shipped to us & we will let the puppies cuddle with it in the days prior to your pup leaving our home.  There are different modes when turning on the beating heart, our suggestion would be to leave it beating 24/7 & change the batteries every 3 -4 weeks.  You will feel the heartbeat slow its beat when it is time to change the batteries.

Let your puppy practice their nose work & exercise their mind!   Always remember that 20 minutes of a brain activity = 1 hour of a physical activity for your dog.  A healthy dog needs a mental activity EVERY DAY!  Hide your pups’ favorite treats in here & let them go to work finding them! 

We love this toy for many reasons.  It’s cute, well made, & in the medium size, you can insert an empty plastic water bottle to give this toy a sound better than the crinkle paper in many dog toys that ends up getting ruined.  The small size is good as well, & your pup will be able to drag it around easily but we prefer the medium, as the addition of the empty water bottle makes this toy different.  Just remember, you can wash your toys on hot water but let them air dry.  And don’t forget to remove the empty water bottle when you do so!

We love the way this shampoo cleans, lathers, & smells.  It’s mild on the skin; doesn’t dry it out or cause itching.  We consider this a great all around shampoo that can also address dry or itchy skin concerns.  It leaves your dog fluffy & actually removes any foul odor your dog may have from being dirty & stinky.  PLUS it has no soap, gluten, DEA, parabens, synthetic dyes, sulfates, or phthalates.  This is a great “everyday” shampoo.

Our favorite all-over body brush!  It’s well-crafted, made of durable wood, with a comfortable ergonimic design for the hand.  It doesn’t scratch your dog’s skin or feel uncomfortable for them, whereas when we’ve used other brushes that we’ve paid more for, i.e. slicker brushes, the sound it makes on their skin SOUNDS as if it is uncomfortable.  Using it while blow drying their coat actually makes the blow drying experience more tolerable for the puppy – it’s almost as if they like the way it feels on their skin.  We use this same size on all our dogs, no matter the age or size or coat length, though I could only imagine that the 27 mm option might be good to have to use on long coats (hmmmm…looks like we have more $ to spend ourselves).

Our FAVORITE practical everyday harness!  It's comfortable, breathable, fits the body well, & comes in array of colors & sizes!  Their XXXS is the size that most puppies will need when they leave our home, but sometimes they may need an XXS if they are a little older when they leave.  Although young puppies can't be walked out in public, you can use the harness to get them used to wearing one or practice leash walking in your home or backyard.  It will also be necessary if you are tethering to train or taking your pup out in a sling bag, carrying bag, stroller, or in a car seat.  Basically you will need one of these even if you won't be walking them.  Also, if you happen to buy a size that is too big, they will likely grow into it.  However, when you buy it too small, you will need to return unless you want to donate it to us for a future pup 🙂 

We love this car seat.  It's cozy, washable, and feels secure when it's strapped into your car.  It's pretty easy to strap in as well.  The dogs seem to enjoy it over others that go over the seats & are more elevated, even though those allow them to see out the window more.  One caveat is that it is not crash tested, so if you're looking for one that has been tested in car crashes, look at our other, more expensive suggestions.

There are many reasons to swap the water bowl for a water bottle.  First & foremost, water bottles are so much more hygienic (no more backwash just sitting in the water bowl).  But beyond that, your dog's face stays dry eliminating yeast buildup on their face, food from sticking to a wet face, & water being trailed around your house from their facial hair.  We have for a long time used water bottles for our adults but we found a company on Etsy that actually developed an adjustable stand that we could implement with young puppies & then raise the point where the water bottle sits & thus the spout.  The best thing about using this water bottle stand with a bottle versus an all-in-one water bottle stand with a bottle you can find on Amazon is two-fold.  For one, this stand is designed for bottles with a larger water capacity so your dog is/a dogs are never accidentally left without water.  Secondly, the water bottles in the other units are not smooth on the inside.  They have ripples where bacteria can harbor & cleaning becomes a chore, if it ever can be cleaned to be in a like-new state again.

Needless to say, we are big fans of Lickity Stand.  We have so many of their water bottle stands around our homes, & their customization ability not only allows you to have the stand in different colors & add decals like a name or symbols, but for us, we have them cut for our puppies to be just 4" off the ground for the young pups & slowly heighten it as your puppy matures & becomes taller.

Our preference is the adjustable water bottle stand that DOES NOT include the drip cup.  The drip cup is not necessary with the water bottle that we use & suggest for purchase & the drip cup becomes a nuisance when moving the stand to another location (there's another piece to move) & it also adds a mini bowl to empty & clean (a complete moot point if you buy the water bottle that we suggest to buy).   Most pups when they go home will need the starting point of their adjustable stand to be anywhere between 5" - 7".  If you choose that you want to order your Lickity Stand, we will advise you of which size to buy.
